Principal's Welcome
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2025–26 school year! My name is Marco Tolj, and I am proud to serve as your principal. At the Business and Entrepreneurship Virtual Academy (BEVA), we are committed to creating a supportive and engaging virtual learning environment where every student can thrive.
As we enter our fourth year, BEVA continues to grow as one of LAUSD’s premier virtual academies. Last year was a milestone for our school, and we are excited to build on that momentum. Our 2024–25 theme was “Level Up,” and we certainly did just that. Highlights from last year include:
- Achieving our highest-ever graduation rate of 90%
- Increasing student performance in Reading and Math through i-Ready
- Celebrating a 10th grader winning the prestigious Warren Christopher Scholarship
- Being named Middle School Minecraft Champion and High School Finalist
- Earning honors for Teacher of the Year and Assistant Principal of the Year
- Hosting enriching field trips—including sending seniors to Washington, D.C. and New York City for a once-in-a-lifetime experience
New this year, we are launching our Dual Enrollment Program, which gives high school students the opportunity to earn a business certificate while still in high school—providing a valuable head start on college and career goals.
We are also making a significant schedule change: Mondays will now be Homeroom-Only Days. This intentional shift will allow students to strengthen relationships with their homeroom teachers and peers while focusing on community-building, executive functioning skills, and personalized academic support.
At BEVA, we focus on student growth and achievement through:
- Building strong academic and social-emotional foundations through meaningful relationships and rigorous lessons
- Offering leadership development through clubs and extracurricular activities
- Delivering ongoing, high-quality teacher training in literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning
- Staying connected to families through weekly communication and regular meetings
Our vision is to develop leaders who transform the world—guided by integrity, collaboration, and self-determination, and equipped to be innovative and business-ready.
Families are vital to our shared success. Please make sure your child is logging in daily, attending on time, and staying on pace with their FlexPoint coursework. We also strongly encourage you to attend weekly Partners in Progress (PIP) meetings with your student’s teacher to ensure their academic and personal needs are being met. Your child’s counselor is an email away so please utilize their support.
